Corporate Citizenship

Activities in 2002

For the 10th time, the Board was conferred the SHARE Programme Platinum Award. We were also awarded the Corporate Bronze Award in recognition of our continued support for the programme. Besides winning these awards, the year 2002 also saw several new initiatives for the Board in terms of corporate citizenship.

had fun at CPF Board's Family Day

In May 2002, the Board officially adopted the Marina City Park as the venue for community service. The park has played a part in the lives of all CPF staff as many have long been jogging in the park every Wednesday for the past decade.

In October 2002, the Board’s philosophy on Community Service was made available to both staff and members of the public when we launched the corporate citizenship web page.

The Board assisted in several national charity events including the Great Singapore Picnic and Heartstring Gift for a Nation 2002. Going into new grounds in caring for the less fortunate a series of "Makan Sutra" charity lunches were organised within the Board to raise funds for ComChest. Responses for the charity lunches were encouraging. Not only did it rake in money for charity, the makan sessions also brought staff closer together. The Board also organised a Care and Share week in September. A series of activities such as talks from representatives of ComChest and National Volunteer Centre and Charity Food and Fun Bazaar, were held to raise awareness of voluntarism as well as raise funds.

Staff also continued to care for the residents of the Society for the Aged Sick, the Board’s adopted home under its Community Service Programme. Besides raising funds, the Board also organised regular visits to the home to bring cheer to the residents.

On CPF’s Family Day, a group of underprivileged children from Chen Su Lan Methodist Home also joined staff on an outing at the Jurong Bird Park.

Not forgetting our responsibility to the environment, staff continued to care and appreciate the environment through monthly beach cleaning. During the year, 40,950 kilogrammes of paper were collected for recycling purposes. Under the Clean and Green Drive, the Board achieved a 93% rating for the air quality in the CPF Building.

For two years running, the Board won a Gold for the Singapore H.E.A.L.T.H Award from Health Promotion Board. We were also conferred the Sports ACE Award and Sports ACE Most Supportive Boss Award by Singapore Sports Council for our active involvement in promoting a healthy lifestyle at the workplace.
