The year 2003 may have been a tough ride for Singaporeans, but that did not stop CPF staff from playing their part, that is, to be a good corporate citizen. As the saying goes, when times get tough, the tough gets going. And sure enough, big-hearted staff at the Board took on the challenge of raising funds in several national charity projects including the President’s Challenge 2003 “Heart Bus” event where it raised a total of $11,463 for the needy in September 2003. Other charitable events where staff contributed include raising funds for the Courage Fund and “Free Singapore from SARS” draw. |

Apart from raising funds, staff also lived out the CPF community service motto during the year by taking time off to volunteer at charitable events such as helping the disabled elderly at community health screenings and volunteering at family service centres. Volunteers also lent a helping hand at the “Give a Hand!” roadshows. |

Staff also continued to visit the Board’s adopted home, the Society for the Aged Sick, presenting them with gifts and donations, and most importantly, spreading our love and cheer around. |

Indeed, contributing to the community has become a way of life at the Board where staff participates in the SHARE programme. The Board was conferred, for the 11th time, the SHARE Programme Platinum Award in 2003. This award is given by Community Chest to the Board, in recognition of the Board’s continued good work and participation. |

Good corporate citizens do not stop at just raising funds and volunteering. It is also our responsibility to ensure that the environment is clean and green. In support of the national goal for a “clean and green environment”, the Board does its part by continuing to care and appreciate the environment through regular beach or park cleaning. During the year, a total of 32,800 kg of paper was collected for recycling purposes. Under the Clean and Green Drive, the Board also achieved a 95% rating for the air quality in the CPF Building. |

Finally, a strong and healthy team is necessary to keep the Board in operations. That is why the Board actively encourages staff to lead a healthy lifestyle, and organises regular healthy lifestyle activities to ensure that staff are healthy and fit for tomorrow’s challenges. For its strong support and great efforts in promoting healthy lifestyle and health programmes at the workplace, the Board received the Singapore H.E.A.L.T.H. (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Gold Award from the Health Promotion Board for the third year running. |
