Activities in 2004

In 2004, the Board continued to organize various charity events such as Valentine’s Day Charity Rose Sale and Charity Jumble Sale. CPF staff fully epitomized the Board’s community spirit by their generous donations for the victims affected by the Tsunami disaster. A total amount of $21,309 was raised.

CPF staff continued to care for the residents of the Society for the Aged Sick, the Board’s adopted home under its Community Service Programme. Besides raising funds, the Board also organized regular visits to the home to bring cheer to the residents.

On Family Day, a group of under-privileged children from Gracehaven Children’s Home were invited and treated to a day of fun and laughter with the Board’s staff and families. The Board also assisted charitable organizations in recruiting volunteers and sale of donation draw tickets.

Contributing to the community has become a way of life at the Board where staff participated in the SHARE programme, earning the Board, for the 12th time, the SHARE Programme Platinum Award. This award is given out by Community Chest to acknowledge the Board’s unstinting efforts.

Besides caring for the less fortunate, the Board continued to support the national drive towards a “clean and green environment”. CPF staff were encouraged to recycle materials such as paper and ink cartridges through recycling drives. During the year, 36,470 kg of paper was collected for recycling. CPF staff also participated actively in the beach cleaning activities organized by the Board.

The Board recognises that a strong and healthy workforce is integral to its success. In addition to motivating the staff to lead a healthy lifestyle, the Board organizes regular activities to ensure that they stay on the right side of health. For its strong support in promoting healthy lifestyle and health programmes at the workplace, the Board received the Singapore H.E.A.L.T.H. (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Platinum Award from the Health Promotion Board. This award is given to organizations that have achieved the Gold Award for three or more consecutive years and that have also demonstrated tangible results in their workplace health promotion programmes.
