Ah Gongs and Ah Mas entered the hall to the likes of a famous comedian, Rowan Atkinson. ‘Mr Bean's Holiday liven up the atmosphere and had the residents feeling upbeat. They were then treated to some Hokkien jokes by a local comedian. Their uproarious laughter was evident that they enjoyed themselves!
Aunty Mary, one of CPFB's longest serving staff from our cleaning service provider belted out a few tunes. At 74, she had the energy and enthusiasm of a 28-year old and was certainly an inspiration to the elderly residents.
Another highlight of the event was when a local artiste appeared amidst the applause and cheers of the residents. The energetic songs were truly uplifting. The residents waved, tapped and swayed in tune to the music. |

It was another CPF visit to The Society Of The Aged Sick on 30 August 2007. The event started with the fine vocals of our talented staff, Ms Deborah Lee and Ms Yvonne Teo. The game "Pass the Parcel" was played with the residents. The residents were delighted and smiled when they were given presents by our staff. The donations raised enabled the Society to buy new bedside cabinets to replace the residents' old ones. |

On a quarterly basis, CPF Board would visit the Society for the Aged Sick at 130 Hougang Ave 1. During our last visit on 25 May 2007, our staff sang, played the guitar and also played the Angklung (a traditional Indonesian musical instrument). Our presence certainly brought joy and warmth to the residents! This round, the donations raised enabled the Society to purchase a rehabilitation trainer for the residents. Indeed, Mr Soh Chin Heng, our Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Services Group) had summed it all up “Through these gestures, we have shown how CPF Ambassadors care for our community. Keep up the good work and let’s continue in our giving and sharing spirit!” Yes! We would continue to be a good corporate citizen….

This yearly event is jointly organised by CPF Board and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to celebrate Chinese New Year with senior citizens from Kreta Ayer Community Club. Held on 26 February 2007 at the Community Club, we hosted dinner for a group of 200 enthusiastic senior citizens, including some from our adopted home, the Society for the Aged Sick. The event included games and performances from both CPF Board and MOM staff. The dinner started off with the traditional 'lou hei' and ended with a surprise ang bao distribution to all our guests.
