His Portfolio

I currently manage the Policy & Research Department (POD). My role is to lead the department in reviewing and developing CPF policies so that the CPF can stay relevant for its members in the light of social and economic changes. The department also carries out research to ensure that social security knowledge of CPF Board (CPFB) remains up-to-date. Lastly, the department serves to coordinate policies across CPFB.

Greatest Challenge at Work
Projects are often requested at short notice. The challenge is to deliver the projects in time and with quality. As a head of department, it is also important to ensure that the work of the department is well coordinated and efficient, with no duplication of effort.

Some of the Most Memorable Moments in CPF Board

One memorable moment was to lead the Agency Projects Department in setting up the Government Paid Maternity Leave system within a 3-months deadline. This was a completely new scheme with no prior model to work off, and we had to be creative to set up new working processes and systems within the tight deadline. The team was also raised from scratch.

Enjoy Best about Working in CPF Board

Unlike in Government Ministries where officers are very often rotated out, many staff in CPF Board have worked here for a number of years. This allows strong bonds to be fostered and a sense of camaraderie created. Also, because CPF work and policies are something that affects Singaporeans on a daily basis, we have an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of Singaporeans!
