How do I submit an application to use my own or my parent's CPF savings under the CPF Education Scheme?
   

The CPF member (whose CPF funds would be withdrawn) and you must each have your own SingPass and email account.

  • An email with a URL will be sent to the CPF member's e-mail address provided in your application form the next day, if your application is in order. Otherwise, you will be informed of the reason(s) your application have been rejected.

  • The CPF member* must log in via the URL provided in the email using the member's own SingPass within 14 days from the date the application was submitted, to agree to the use of his CPF savings. Otherwise, your application will be rejected after 14 days.

    * This is not applicable if you are applying to use your own CPF.

    What information do I need in applying to use CPF savings under the Education Scheme?
       

    Before you go online to complete your application under the CPF Education Scheme:

  • Check the application period for the institution you are applying to use CPF to pay your tuition fees.
  • Ensure you have been accepted by the tertiary institution and confirm that it is an approved institution under the CPF Education Scheme.
  • Establish whether you are a new (e.g. fresh intake for AY2008/09) or existing student (e.g. 2nd year student) under the institution.
  • Get ready your CPF account number or NRIC, telephone number and email address.
  • Find out the CPF account number or NRIC, telephone number and e-mail address of the CPF member, whose CPF savings you are applying to use under the Education Scheme.
  • Check with the CPF member on the percentage of the tuition fees you may pay using the member’s CPF savings.
  • Ensure you and the CPF member each have your own SingPass and email account.

    Why do we need to use a SingPass for the online application?
       


    SingPass, which stands for "Singapore Personal Access", is the common password to transact with the Government online. SingPass is the online equivalent of the identity card, and is required for e-services where users must identify themselves online.     Why does the CPF member need to logon to endorse the online application?
       


    The CPF member must endorse the application using his SingPass, to apply to withdraw his CPF savings for your tertiary education.

    Why is the email address of the CPF member required for online application?
       

    An email will be sent to the CPF member, one day after you submit an online application. The member must log on to the URL provided, using his own SingPass, in order to apply to withdraw his CPF savings for your tertiary education. Hence, providing a valid and correct email address is very important.

    How soon must the CPF member endorse the application?
       


    The CPF member must logon to the URL provided in the email within 14 days from the date of the application, and click ‘Confirm’ if he wishes to withdraw his CPF savings to pay for your tertiary education. The application will be automatically rejected if no action is taken by the member after 14 days.

    Can I amend my application after submission?
       

    Applications once submitted cannot be amended. However, you may cancel the application and submit a new one.

    What should I do if I have submitted an application under Institution A, but have now enrolled with Institution B instead?
       

    CPF savings can only be used for one course of study at any point in time. You need to cancel your existing application before you submit a new one. Please refer to FAQ 8 above to cancel the application.

    How long does it take to process my online application?
       


    Applications that have been endorsed by the CPF member will be processed by the next day, if the institution has transmitted its student enrolment data to CPF Board.

    If the enrolment data has not been submitted by the institution to CPF Board yet, your application status will be shown as “External User Processed”.

    For an idea of when institutions are submitting their enrolment data to deduct tuition fees, please refer to FAQ 15.

    How do I check the status of my online application?
       


    You can check the status of your online application any time, by logging on to www.cpf.gov.sg, using your SingPass under ‘My Activities”.

    How long does it take to process my online application?
       
    Status displayed under ‘My Activities’
    What it means
    a) Pending (acceptance) CPF member has yet to endorse application.

    Please remind the CPF member to endorse it. Applications not endorsed within 14 days from submission date will be automatically rejected.

    b) External User Processed The CPF member has endorsed the application.

    Application is under processing, pending confirmation of your enrolment data from the institution.

    c) Successfully Processed Approved subject to available funds at deduction.

    Deductions from the CPF member’s Ordinary Account will be made to the institution upon claim by the institution. The CPF member and student will be notified in writing after the deductions are made.

    d) Rejected Your application has been rejected.

    e) Member rejected the application
    Rejected by CPF member. Application process has been terminated.
    f) Cancelled Cancelled as requested.

    Will I receive any notification after payment has been made to the institution?
       


    A letter will be sent to both the CPF member and the student when payments have been made to the institution.

    How do I check for the reasons if my application is rejected?
       


    Please log on to the CPF website at www.cpf.gov.sg with your SingPass, for more information on the rejection under “My Activities”.

    When will payment be made to the institution?
       


    Payment to the institution is made based on an agreed schedule with the institution. Generally, payments will be made in about 1 month after the application cut-off date. Please note that the schedule may be changed and is indicative only.

    The payment actually made to the institution is subject to availability of funds in the CPF member’s Ordinary Account, at the point of the deduction for payment to the institution.
