The Government would like to remind Singaporeans who qualify1 for the Workfare Bonus Scheme (WBS) to declare their income by 1 April 2006 so as to receive their Bonus on 1 May 2006.
The WBS is part of the Progress Package that gives a cash bonus to older, low wage Singaporean workers to reward regular and productive work.
Singaporeans who have worked for at least 6 months in 2005 but do not have CPF contributions and have not received an income tax return for their trade income should declare their income using the Workfare Bonus Income Declaration Form. They may do so in person at any Community Centres/Clubs, Community Development Councils or CPF Service Centres.
After 1 April 2006, declaration of income can only be made at CPF Service Centres. Declarations submitted after this date will result in payment of the bonus after 1 May 2006.
Similarly, the self-employed should submit their income tax forms by 1 April 2006 to receive their Workfare Bonus on 1 May 2006. They will be automatically assessed based on their income tax return.
Employees with at least 6 months of work in 2005 will be automatically assessed for the Workfare Bonus based on their CPF contribution records. There is no need for this group to apply for or declare their income in order to qualify for the Workfare Bonus.
