If you or your dependants are currently not insured under any medical insurance, you can consider MediShield. It is catastrophic medical insurance scheme that is affordable. MediShield is designed to help you or your dependants pay larger hospital bills due to long-term medical treatments and charges incurred in B2/C class wards in restructured hospitals. It helps you and your dependants to settle part of the expenses arising from prolonged hospitalisation and certain outpatient treatments for serious illnesses. MediShield complements Medisave savings, helping you stretch your healthcare dollars.
If you are currently not covered under MediShield and would like to be covered, you should apply before you turn 75 years old. The maximum coverage age is 80 years. As with any insurance plan, the acceptance of application for MediShield is subject to good health. Thus, members are required to declare their health conditions when they apply for cover.

If you wish to stay in a higher class ward or seek treatment from a private hospital, you should get medical insurance that can give you higher benefits. You can apply directly to the private insurers under the Private Medical Insurance Scheme (PMIS) for Medisave-approved medical insurance covers. |
