Your Child’s Healthcare Needs

If Your Child Gets Hospitalised

You can use Medisave to pay for your child’s hospitalisation and certain approved outpatient treatment expenses incurred at any participating restructured or private hospitals in Singapore. The use of Medisave is subjected to withdrawal limits.

Click here for more information on how you can use your Medisave, should your child gets hospitalised.

To estimate the maximum amount that you can claim from Medisave or MediShield, click here to go to our Medisave/MediShield Online Calculator.

Healthcare Protection For Your Child

A prolonged illness requiring long-term medical treatment could deplete your Medisave Account. Stretch your Medisave dollars by ensuring that the basic healthcare needs for you and your family are being covered under MediShield. It is a low cost medical insurance that can help cover a portion of medical expenses when the need arises.

From 1 December 2007, newborns will be extended MediShield coverage on an opt-out basis. It is advisable that you do not opt out your child from MediShield when an auto-cover is given to him/her. MediShield helps meet the costs of treatment for serious illnesses or prolonged hospitalisation expenses in Class C or B2 wards.

For premiums as low as $30 per year, you can enjoy peace of mind, knowing that your child’s healthcare needs are being taken care of.

If your child is not covered under MediShield, you can submit your application online. You can use yours or your spouse’s Medisave to pay your child's MediShield premiums. Please note that online application for MediShield cover for dependant(s) is only applicable if the dependant is below age 16. For applications of cover for older dependant, please click here to obtain a printable form, complete the form and return it to the CPF Board for processing.

If you want higher coverage for your child, you may consider taking up an Integrated Plan provided by private insurers under the Private Medical Insurance Scheme. You may use your or your spouse’s Medisave to pay the premiums for the Integrated Plan.
