You’ve just got your new Identity Card. What’s Next? Your CPF
As a new Singapore identity card holder, you need to inform us when you change your identity card number and personal particulars. The list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below will provide you with some information regarding your new CPF account number.

Singapore identity card holders use their Singapore identity card number as their CPF account number. If you are a foreigner holding a CPF account number (eg: SB123456A or SB987654E) and have been issued with a Singapore identity card, please inform us so that we can update your latest particulars in our records.

It is important that you update us when you change your particulars. This will ensure that your records are kept up-to-date and you only need to produce the document you are holding for your transaction with us.

You can either:
a) Write to us with clear photocopies of the relevant documents *(See list of documents in Q2) to

Submit your application via my cpf Online Services - My Requests using your SingPass

   
c) Visit any of our CPF offices with the original relevant documents* (See list of documents in Q2)

2. What are the documents which I must submit to CPF Board to update my particulars?
 
  If you are a …….. Please provide us with the following documents:
Singapore Citizen and
Were formerly a Malaysian identity card holder or
   
  • Singapore identity card (both sides);
  • Singapore Citizenship Certificate (both sides) showing your name, date of birth, Singapore identity card number, photograph, and former Malaysian identity card number; and
  • Original CPF membership card (if any).
    Were formerly a non-Malaysian identity card holder
       
  • Singapore identity card (both sides);
  • Entry Permit or passport showing your old passport number, name, date of birth, photograph, and Singapore identity card/Unique Identification number; and
  • Original CPF membership card (if any).
    Singapore Permanent Resident and
    are holding a Malaysian identity card or
       
  • Singapore and Malaysian identity card (both sides);
  • Passport showing your Malaysian identity card number, name, date of birth, photograph, and Singapore identity card/Unique Identification Number; and
  • Original CPF membership card (if any).
    are holding a foreign passport (i.e. non-Malaysian)
       
       
  • Singapore identity card (both sides);
  • Passport showing your current passport number (if any), old passport number, name, date of birth, photograph, passport expiry date and Singapore identity card/Unique Identification Number; and
  • Original CPF membership card (if any).

    3. When can I start using my new CPF account number?
     

    We will inform you in writing once your CPF account number has been changed. Upon receipt of our letter, you can start using your Singapore identity card number as your new CPF account number.

    4. What happens to my SingPass?
     
    If you have not received your SingPass for the new account, a new SingPass will automatically be sent to your address maintained with the Government within two months after CPF contributions are credited into the new CPF account.
    If you have received your SingPass for the new account, you can continue using that SingPass.

    5. Must I inform my employer of the change in my CPF account number?
     

    Yes, please inform your employer to use your new CPF account number for the next payment of your CPF contribution.

    6. I submitted a CPF nomination form under my old account. With the change in my account number, must I submit a new Nomination form?
     
    No, you do not need to submit a new nomination form. If you have a valid nomination form under your old CPF account, the nomination status will automatically be updated in your new account. Hence, you do not need to make a new nomination under the new CPF account unless you wish to change your nominee(s).
