Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) Scheme Eligibility Criteria
 

Work Year 2010

You must meet the following eligibility criteria to qualify for WIS for work done in 2010:
  • Be a Singapore Citizen
  • Be aged 35 years and above as at 31 December 2010
  • Lived in a property with Annual Value (AV) not exceeding $11,000 as at 31 December 2009, based your address registered with the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
  • Earn an average gross1 monthly income of $1,700 or less for the work period
  • Employees must have worked at least 3 months out of any 6-month period in 2010
  • Self-employed persons must have declared their net trade income for work done in 2010 and made the relevant Medisave contributions
      o To receive WIS in the mid-year assessment by 1 Sep 2010, self-employed persons must declare their Jan-Jun 2010 income and make the relevant Medisave contributions by 31 July 2010.
      o To receive WIS in the year-end assessment by 1 May 2011, self-employed persons must declare their income for work done in 2010 and make the relevant Medisave contributions by 31 March 2011.
      o If mid-year income declaration is not made, full-year WIS may still be received as long as the income declaration and Medisave contribution for the full year are made.
       
      Work Year 2011
      You must meet the following eligibility criteria to qualify for WIS for work done in 2011:
    • Be a Singapore Citizen
    • Be aged 35 years and above as at 31 December 2011
    • Lived in a property with Annual Value (AV) not exceeding $13,000 as at 31 December 2010, based your address registered with the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
    • Earn an average gross1 monthly income of $1,700 or less for the work period
    • Employees must have worked at least 3 months out of any 6-month period in 2011
    • Self-employed persons must have declared their net trade income for work done in 2011 and made the relevant Medisave contributions
        o To receive WIS in the mid-year assessment by 1 Sep 2011, self-employed persons must declare their Jan-Jun 2011 income and make the relevant Medisave contributions by 31 July 2011.
        o To receive WIS in the year-end assessment by 1 May 2012, self-employed persons must declare their income for work done in 2011 and make the relevant Medisave contributions by 31 March 2012.
        o If mid-year income declaration is not made, full-year WIS may still be received as long as the income declaration and Medisave contribution for the full year are made.
         
        1Average gross monthly income includes basic salary and additional wages like overtime pay and bonuses
